Benzodiazepine tranquillisers, especially 1,4-benzodiazepines, may lower the serum prolactin concentration. Thus, the increase in the serum prolactin concentration which is induced by administration of neuroleptics and which may result in unwanted side effects can be reduced dose-dependently by administering about 0.01 to 100 parts by weight of benzodiazepine derivative per part by weight of neuroleptic, it being immaterial whether the benzodiazepine derivative is administered before or after the neuroleptic or at the same time as the latter. Simultaneous administration of the active substances is possible as ad hoc combination or in the form of a pharmaceutical combination. |
