<p>PURPOSE:To effect a high recovery ratio of sulfurous acid gas in a waste gas as simple substance of sulfur by a method wherein sulfurous gas in the waste gas is adsorbed by semicoke, the coke is washed with water, and the obtained sulfuric acid is concentrated and reduced. CONSTITUTION:The waste gas containing sulfurous acid gas 9 is guided into an adsorption column 8 to cause the sulfurous acid gas to be adsorbed by the adsorbent of activated semicoke 7. Sulfuric acid is generated from water adsorbed at the same time and oxygen. The adsorbent 7 is charged in a desorption column 10, where by supplying water 11, dilute sulfuric acid 13 is separated. The dilute sulfuric acid 13 exchanges heat with boiler waste gas or with dry-distillation gas in a concentrating column 4. This produces concentrated sulfuric acid 15, which is passed through the waste semicoke layer 12 in a reducing column 16. The process reduces it to simple substance of sulfur. In this manner, sulfurous acid gas in the waste gas is efficiently separated and then efficiently recovered as simple substance of sulfur.</p> |
