PURPOSE:To firmly joint the projecting ends of a spiral electrode-body and a collector which is made of a plain metal plate, at a low cost, by subjecting them to ultrasonic-wave welding. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 is located slightly higher than a negative electrode 2, and a separator 3 is interposed between these electrodes. This is coiled to form a spiral electrode-body. The spiral electrode-body is placed in a metal battery-case 8, and the case 8 is sealed by a sealing plate 6 which also serves as a positive-electrode terminal, thus constituting a battery. At this point, a disclike positive collector 4 made of a nickel-plated plain steel-plate is placed on the top of the spiral electrode-body, and the collector 4 and the projecting ends of the positive electrode 1 are welded by means of an ultrasonic-wave welder. The ultrasonic-wave welder used here is preferred to have a horn which vibrates horizontally and which is equipped with a fixed ring provided with the projections of welding chips. |
