Adhesives for polystyrene foam, contng. flame-proofing agents. Compns. contain the usual adhesive polymers, the usual crystalline organic Cl- or Br- contg. flame-proofing agents, with melting points of at least 80 degrees C agent which have a synergistic action on bonding flame-proofed polystyrene foam and, in addition, 50-500 wt.% adhesive polymer, of a non-hardenable resin with a pt. of 60-200 degrees C. Spec. resins include colophony and is derivatives, the phenol, ketone, polyterpene, maleate and coumarone resins. The flame-resistant properties of the foam are not worsened by the adhesives, and the foams may be bonded to water-impermeable surfaces. They are used esp. for insulation in buildings. |
