<p>PURPOSE:To ensure removing of sulfur oxide in the waste gas without the use of water by a method wherein sulfur oxide ih the coal combustion waste gas is oxidized to sulfur trioxide, which is combined to particles such as those of quick lime, and is removed by an electric dust precipitator. CONSTITUTION:The waste gas 2 from a coal combusting boiler 1 which contains sulfur oxide and dust is guided to a catalytic reactor 3. There, it is brought into contact with an SO2-oxidation catalyst to convert most of the sulfur oxide into SO3. The gas, after heat exchange, is added with particles 5 such as those of quick lime and lime, then is sent to an electric dust precipitator 6. Meanwhile, SO3 is reacted with particles of quick lime and lime, as well as dust and is bonded to them. This facilitates dust collection. In this manner, a small amount of chemicals ensuredly performs the exhaust gas desulfurization without using water.</p> |
