PURPOSE:To make it possible to know exactly the relative positional relation between an optional electrode for machining and a workpiece by providing a processing tank for machining in such a manner that the contacting part of a machining electrode is positioned above the surface of the liquid for machining. CONSTITUTION:The liquid 4 for machining is injected in a tank 1 for machining, while a workpiece 5 is immersed in the liquid 4. An electrospark machining device is equipped with two position detector 6 and 7 so that a reference position may be given to a machining electrode 2 even when the predetermined reference surfaces (a) and (b) of the workpiece 5 are stained by the liquid 4 for machining and scraps left after machining. Moreover, the detector 6 is fitted to the bottom surface of the tank 1 in such a manner that a line connecting the contacting parts 6b and 6c of the machining electrode is in parallel to the direction of an arrow X, and in this state, each of contacting parts 6b and 6c is projected above the surface of the liquid 4. In this way, the relative positional relation between the electrode 2 and the workpiece 5 can be known exactly. |
