The layout comprises a mould 1, an electrode feeding element 5, which comprises a lower holder 6 with a roller feeding element 12 and an upper holder in the form of a revolving drum 8 with a vertical axle 16. The drum 8 has continuous holders 21 which are designed to make way for vertically directed spare electrodes 9 and a traveller 22 which serves to support these electrodes. The electrode feed element 5 also has elements for connecting a melting electrode 7 to the spare electrode 9, which is brought up into position by means of said holders, whereupon the electrode 7 is continuously fed to the cavity of the mould 1. The invention is especially suitable for application in connection with the production of large ingots by the electroslag welding method. <IMAGE>
