<p>The commination plant (10) consists in general of a feed unit, a pre-cutting unit (15) and a shredding unit (17). The feed unit comprises a conveyor belt (19) operated by a drive assembly (21), which transports the material to the pre-cutting unit (15). The drive assembly consists of a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder with a piston rod designed as a rack driving a pinion (25) via a freewheeling clutch. The pre-cutting unit (15) has a shear with a stationary blade (43) and a moving blade (45). The moving blade is fitted to a blade holder (47) swingingly seated on an axle (49) on the machine frame (36). The pre-cut material drops into a chute (69), which delivers it into the shredding unit (17) consisting of two rotating cylinders (73,74) with sets of shredding blades which disintegrate the material to the required grade.</p> |
