Belt driven vehicle dynamo mounting - has single adjusting nut for setting belt tension

The dynamo is hinged on two points on the engine casing. From one point (15,16,17) a threaded rod (5) is hinged which passes through a clamp (11) bolted to the generator casing (12). The clamp fits round the extended shank (7) of a hexagon headed (6) nut (8) which is screwed onto the rod (5). The shank (7) has an axial slit (10). To adjust the belt tension the clamping bolt (13) is slackened slightly so that the nut (8) can be turned. As the nut is still located in the clamp, turning the former moves the dynamo casing with respect to the rod, and therefore also with respect to the engine frame. When correctly set the clamp is retightened locking the split shank of the nut round the rod. The arrangement provides a simple adjuster which does not require the setting of lock nuts.
