On the baseplate of the die casting machine is a carrier frame for a slideway in which cross-slides can be moved. Between plate and frame is at least one guide rail for adjustable limit stops. Stops can be moved along rail to desired positions, so that an arm carrying a pair of gripper tongs can be located at a specified point on the die casting machine. Tongs remove the castings from the open dies. A guide plate is pref. located below frame; and an L-shaped rail is pref. located on one or both sides of plate. The tongs can be used on either side of the die casting machine.
