The arm is jointed to a base piece fixed to the window frame. The stationary base piece is connected with the swingable arm by a bolt and a self-arresting nut. The arm is made of flat iron section and has on its bottom edge a number of notches consisting of an enlarged recessed part and a narrow part. The leaf frame has an angle piece fixed to the frame. The angle piece has a stub extension pointing towards the adjacent arm and having a dia. to slip through the narrowed part of an optional notch. On the end of the stub an enlarged element in spherical shape is provided which keeps the arm in place once it has been engaged with one of the notches. In addition the arm has three lateral bores which can be brought in line with a bore of the angle piece and the application of a padlock prevents the disengagement of the arm from the adopted position.
