PURPOSE:To obtain high voltage and to reduce necessary output current from power source by discharging electricity of a capacitor charged with DC-current at the primary coil of an ignition coil and shutting off when the discharging current reaches almost the peak value. CONSTITUTION:A closed circuit is constituted by connecting a primary coil 1a of an ignition coil 1 and a capacitor 6 and a switch. The switcn 4 is energized for an appropriate period before the ignition timing and shuts off when igniting. The capacitor 6 is charged by DC-power source 7 during nonconducting term of the switch 4. Then, when the switch 4 is shut off, the primary current 11 is supplied to the primary coil 1a from the capacitor 6 through the switch 4. A shutting off time of the switch 4 is set to be the time (t1, ignition time) when the primary current 11 reaches a peak value Iim, and if the switch 4 shuts off at this period, the primary current 11 is shut off, high voltage is generated at a secondary coil 1b an ignition coil, and an ignition plug 2 sparks. |
