<p>An assembly machine for buttons or similar articles, as disclosed in appln. P2856868.5 has an automatic feed device which presents the components to the assembly tools in a defined angular orientation. The circular components are propelled along a feed channel by a reciprocating slide, on each side of which is a spring-loaded finger which rests on top of the component, and which drops into an index recess when the component is correctly oriented. One side of the feed channel has a high-friction surface with which the component is in rolling contact until is assumes the required orientation, when rotation is arrested by the engagement of the fingers. The use of two fingers rather than a single one ensures orientation of the component within at most a 180deg. rotation, and enables the length of the feed channel to be halved.</p> |
