The doctor blade is for a rotary screen-printing machine, and comprises a flexible metal blade having a portion of constant cross-section gripped in a holder. The portion protruding from the holder is of profiled cross-section, typically hollow ground on one or both sides, or stepped. Within the profiled area the blade thickness can be arranged to decrease steadily. The design gives even and accurately controlled application of the dye paste, irrespective of its viscosity.
