Halogenated polymers are granulated by (a) dissolving a part of the polymer together with the additives, especially the stabilisers for the polymer pref. basic Pb salts at an elevated temp in a solvent and/or plasticiser (b) suspending the rest of the polymer at a lower temp in water, if it is not already in the form of an aqueous suspension or emulsion, (c) introducing the soln (a) with stirring into suspension (b), and (d) heating the mixture until granulation occurs. Gives granules of halogenated polymer, especially PVC, which also contain the necessary additives, especially stabilisers. Emulsifier free hard and soft PVC granulates can be prepd.
|
