[Also in Division G4] A rod 57 carrying an intermediate punch 77 passes through a guide block 66 to which it is normally attached by a catch 71, the rod 57 and block 66 being reciprocated by a cam 58 and a pivoted link 59 so that intermediate punch 77 is moved over punches 79 aligned with a column of a record card 12. A selector switch having a wiper 20 energizes an electromagnet 56 in timed relationship with the movement of rod 57 so that pawl 74 engages a notch 76 in rod 57 to arrest intermediate punch 77 over the desired punch 79, catch 71 being released to allow continued movement of guide block 66 alone. Cam 58 and wiper arm 20 are rotated by a worm drive 50, 52, and guide block 66 and rod 57 are restored by a spring 61. |
