<p>The door catch has a peg portion on the door which enters a socket buried in the frame which holds the peg secure in the closed position, which acts as a push button and releases the door when pushed. The socket houses a sleeve with an outer circular mouth containing a ring of balls which locate in a ring around the end of the peg and retain it. The sleeve moves against a coil spring to operate the latch device. The latter consists of a blade which is lifted up by a rod as it travels rearwards so as to swing over a spring loaded pivot arm which then engages a recess at the rear of the sleeve.</p> |
