PURPOSE:To enable to have the electronic timepiece having a beautiful form of character and to make display of battery life visible by a method wherein the electronic timepiece consists of a time counting circuit, a character generator, a display body and a sweep control circuit including a battery voltage detecting circuit. CONSTITUTION:This timepiece consists of an oscillation frequency divider 1, counters 2-7, electronic switch circuit groups 8-13, a character generator 14, latch circuits 15-20, the latch circuit attached with a reset 21, the display body 21 and the sweep control circuit including the battery voltage detection circuit 27. By means of the dot matrix display, configuration of the electronic timepiece having the beautiful style of character is feasible. Further, when life of the battery expires, only one of the scanning lines disposed horizontally within the display body 24 is swept with a certain frequency vertically and the sweep is configurated to run from the upside to the downside. Thus, the scarcity of the bettery capacity can be understood visually. |
