PURPOSE:To equivalently form a non-volatile memory by placing a solar battery on the upper surface of a package for containing a semiconductor random access memory and supplying electric power to the memory therefrom when external power supply is interrupted. CONSTITUTION:A C-MOS random access memory is sealed with ceramic in the package 3, and the solar battery 4 using an amorphous semiconductor is placed on the external upper surface of the package 3. Then, an electromotive force produced from the battery 4 is connected to the power supply Vcc of a memory through a diode 5, and the battery 4 is grounded at the other end. Thus, as long as the memory is retained in bright position, the memory operates equivalently as non- volatile memory, and can be used in the same manner as a read/write memory. |
