PURPOSE:To avoid generation of exhaust gas of a high temperature in an incinerator wherein matter disposed such as city trash is transported through drying range, burning range and after-burning range in this order for furming purpose by interrupting the gas preheating operation by a preheater when the temperature in the after-burning range is detected to be lower than a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:In an incinerator for burning city trash and so on, the trash is fed through feeding port 8 onto a fire grate 9 and burned while it is transported through the drying range A, burning range B and after-burning range C in this order. In this while, the respective ranges A, B and C are supplied with gas which contains oxygen for combustion by blower 18, through main flow passage 26, heat exchangeable preheater 21 and the respective gas feeding passages a, ... In the incinerator thus constructed, there is provided a sensor 31 for detecting the temperature in the after-burning range C. When the sensor detects a lower temperature than a predetermined value, a valve 27 is closed whereas another valve 29 of roundabout passage 28 is opened, so that oxygen containing gas is supplied directly into the ranges A to C without being heated preliminarily. |
