PURPOSE:To perform stable tracking and information reading, by making the optical head access to the nonrecording area of the optical disk, making it tracking- ready and subsequently driving it. CONSTITUTION:The optical head 14 is moved in the radial direction of the disk 15 on basis of the optical scale 23 by driving the linear actuator 22, rotating the optical disk 15 at a constant speed, and it is made to access to the nonrecording area which is between recording track T of the object and the recording track of this side by one. Subsequently, after the tracking unit 18 has been made on, the head 14 is moved slowly in the center direction of the disk 15 until the first spiral of the track T is detected, and as soon as it is detected, the aforesaid movement is stopped. At the same time as the foregoing, tracking is started by the laser beam l2, and the beam l2 from the head 14, performs tracking spirally on the center of the bit row of the track T. Thus, stable tracking, and reading of the recording information can be executed. |
