PURPOSE:A recording liquid which does not plug ejection orifices, does not undergo deterioration or deposition during storage and have excellent recordability, ejection stability and ejection response, including a direct dye and a metallized azo dye. CONSTITUTION:A recording liquid prepared by dissolving and/or dispersing in a solvent, a direct dye represented, for example, by formula I, wherein Q1 and Q2 are each a benzene ring or a naphthalene ring unsubstituted or substituted with an amino group or a sulfonic group, R1-R4 are each H, Na or a sulfonic group in the form of a quat.-ammonium salt and there are 2-8 sulfonic groups in the molecule, or formula II, wherein Q3 and Q6 are each a (substituted) phenyl or naphthyl, Q4 and Q5 are each a (substituted) 1,4-phenylene or 1,4-naphthylene, R5 and R6 are each H, -OH or -NH2, X is -NH-, -N=N- or -CH=CH- bond and n is 0 or 1, and a metallized azo dye, wherein said direct dye and said metallized azo dye being present in a weight ratio of 9:1-1:9 and the total of both dyes being 0.5-20%, based on the total weight of recording liquid. |
