<p>The tool-part uses a tool wheel (12) and a magazine wheel (14) on parallel axes (18,20) for the automatic replacement of tools for a lathe. The tool wheel is mounted on a turret (10), and both wheels are rotated in definite co-ordinated increments. The magazine wheel has reciprocal axial movements to effect loading/unloading. Wheels (12,14) rim pockets may locate fixed (22) and replaceable tools (24F) in holders, the tool wheel locating diametrically opposed holders (24). The magazine wheel may be rotated by a motor (26) and gear train (28,30), with axial displacements by a ram (32)-actuated fork (34) engaging a telescopic shaft (16). Tongue and groove latches with sprung bolts may secure the holders on the wheels. The tool wheel bolts are released by hydraulic pistons in the turret (10).</p> |
