The heat exchanger comprises a coiled pipe with one or more inlets and outlets. This consists of an inner coil (106) with a large number of turns about a common axis and bearing against each other, and a similar coaxial outer coil (108). At one end, the coils are connected by a continuous transfer segment having a first curved section of increasing radius bringing the pipe (102) outwards from the inner coil. A second curved section brings it axially over the inner coil to form the outer one.
