PURPOSE:To secure a high-quality and steady development, by providing the development roller having the toner holding surface layer in such way that the roller may roll toward the latent image holder. CONSTITUTION:The development roller 8 consists of the rigid body core layer 11, the elastic intermediate layer 12 of the sponge or the like and the nonflexible toner holding surface layer 13 each. The layer 13 is coated over the elastic layer 12, and the surface of the layer 13 is formed uneven with a number of micropores provided. Then the uniforming member 7 loads the toner supplied from the toner supplier 9 on the layer 13 into the above-mentioned pores with the proper coagulation and via the relative shift between the member 7 and the layer 13. Thus the toner coating is carried out to the roller 8. In such way, both the transportation and coating of the toner becomes steady to obtain a high-quality picture. |
