The hair-cutter is for use by non-professionals, using a vacuum to draw a localised quantity of hair into a hollow circular head (11), and incorporating inset rotary cutters (25). A supple round hollow section skirt (16) is mounted on the head, serves to contact the hairy surface and follow the contours. The skirt also sets the distance between the hairy surface and the cutters (25), slides relative to head (11), and locks (17) in a definite adjustable position. An electrically (32) driven rotary diametric blade (28) may locate behind static radial cruciform counter cutters (21), head (11) cranking to form a hollow handle (13) which may attach (14) to a vacuum cleaner or similar.
