The mixer tap has two internal plates, one fixed and one mobile which is positioned by a single operating lever (14). The lever drives a spindle (8) whose spherical end locates in the mobile plate (6). The spindle may be moved in two directions at right angles to one another. The temperature is controlled by adjusting the respective flows of hot and cold water and is achieved by sliding the mobile plate in relation to the hot and cold inlets on the fixed plate. Regulation of the total flow of water at the set temp. is achieved by tilting operating lever which moves the mobile plate perpendicular to the previous sense and controls total flow whilst maintaining the temp. constant.
