<p>A safety device for coking installations prevents misalignment of the guide which channels the cake of incandescent coke pushed by a ram out of one of the ovens of a coking battery of horizontal ovens through the guide to the extinction wagon. Misalignment of the guide w.r.t. the oven brings about swinging of the guide in the wagon under the thrust of the coke exerted on the end face of the guide. The safety device is an extensible element which is supported on the guide and is elastically extensible in the direction of the course of the ram in advancing and taking the charge out of the oven. One of the ends of the extensible element is fixed w.r.t. the guide. The other end is fitted with a pulley which is held back by a rail fixed parallel to the direction of translation of the guide. The pulley puts the element into extension under the effect of the thrust exerted on the end face of the guide by the coke driven by the ram, when a fault in alignment between the guide and the oven occurs. Means associated with the extensible element and sensitive to variations in its length emit a signal, pref. an alarm signal, when they detect an increase in length of a predetermined value of the extensible element.</p> |
