Compounds of the formula (I) wherein Z is C1 and C4 alkoxymethylene, hydroxymethylene, esterified hydroxymethylene, carbonyl, or ketal-protected carbonyl, and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, are useful as anticonvulsant and anti-secretory agents.
