The protecting cap is connected with the pedal in a jointed manner. The pedal includes a hook element consisting of plates and a lateral strap. The cap accommodating the shoe of the cyclist is connected to the actual pedal and to the hook element. The connection is made in such a way that the shape of the cap allows it to surround the underside of the pedal with its sole part, while the axle of the pedal penetrates the width of the opening through the cap. The part of the cap which surrounds the pedal terminates with a tongue and has slots, through which the strap is connected with the hook. The strap is positioned in relation to the hook element by flap provided on the inner surface of the cap. On its upper part the cap reaches up to the instep and has a bead along the edge of the cap.
