Extrusion press with support for end of extrusion - lowered to remotely controlled positions to eject spacer, press disc and extrusion tail

The arrangement is for a horizontal metal extrusion press to separate the tail end (2) of the extrusion, the pressure disc (3) and the spacer disc (4) as they emerge from a vertical tube (5) to arrive on a vertically movable (7) support (6). The support is lowered to a first station where the spacer is laterally removed on to a table (8), then to a second station where the disc (3) is laterally ejected (by 9) through an opening (10) for return to the press, and finally to a third station where the support meets a stop (12) and pivots (on 14) so that the extrusion tail (2) is tipped down a shute (11). The stop positions are determined by limit switches (E1-4) of which those (E2,3) for the first and second stations are remotely adjustable from the control desk. The system enables the table to be adjusted in height in a simple manner.
