A cutting disc is used on a mineral extracting machine in a mine. A cylindrical or truncated conical base unit bears an armed peripheral stem piece undercutting a seam strip. There are one or more breaking wedges on the side facing the long face conveyor, entering the cutter slit, with a wedge face rising from the stem plane on the cutting disc. The wedge (14) is movably mounted in a recess (22) in the stem piece (18) or stem section (19). There it is periodically brought into an operative position where it presses the undercut seam strip out of the working face. It may be radially displaceable in the recess, and connected to the piston rod of a swivelling, pref. radially sited, pressure cylinder. This permits a deep cut in the seam strip, without changing cutting disc dimensions, for an improved pressing process.
