PURPOSE:To maintain the levitating and supporting state of an object on a support by forming the support in a superconducting state, moving the support to the axial center of a ringlike permanent magnet in an ambient temperature atmosphere, and supplying liquid nitrogen to the support. CONSTITUTION:A support 1 for supporting an object 4 is so cooled with liquid nitrogen as to become its critical temperature or lower, thereby reducing the temperature. The support 1 is raised to a vertical axis of a ringlike permanent magnet 5 placed horizontally. The support 1 exhibits a superconducting state, and the support 1 for placing the object 4 by the use of its complete diamagnetic property is levitated to a predetermined position above the axial center of the magnet 5. Liquid nitrogen 2 on the support 1, to be consumed by evaporation and the like is supplied by a liquid nitrogen supply unit 3, and the support 1 is held at a critical temperature or lower. Thus, the support 1 is levitated in the atmosphere while the support 1 is held at its critical temperature or lower. |
