A sail system containing one or more jibs (54, 55) mounted on a vessel (51), which jibs (54, 55) are attached to the vessel (51) at an angle to their support stay such that the sheeting angle intersects the luff of the sail at a point above 50-90% of its length, preferably above from about 65-80% of its length, and the jibs (54, 55) are maintained at high cambers. In a preferred embodiment, the vessel (51) has two jibs (54, 55) of approximately equal size and the cambers of the jibs (54, 55), measured horizontally at the level of the clew (56, 57) are between about 12 and 25%, preferably between about 14 and 20%, most preferably between 14.5 and 18%.
|
