The pipe wrench consists of two main parts, i.e. the jaw part (12) and the lever part (14). The jaw part (12) has serrated edges on its hooked end (18) continuing with a shaft part (16) of U-cross section with racks (28) machined on both ends of the U-shape. The shaft part (16) is enveloped by similarly shaped U-cross section sleeve (23) with width extended beyond the width of the shaft part (16) and provided with a fulcrum containing a screw bolt (30). On the bolt (30) a grip wheel (40) with serrated edges (42) is seated. It has pinions on either side, the teeth (38) of which engage with the teeth (28) of the rack on the shaft part (16). Between the underside of U-cross section shaft part (16) and the inner surface of the base of the shape a gap (C) is left.
