The means comprises a sponge or, preferably, a cloth of textile fibre or paper which is impregnated or coated with a disinfectant and is packaged in a bag in a disinfectant-tight manner. Expediently the cloth is almost odourless and can be used, for example, for wiping off a toilet seat, a telephone receiver or a door handle before use.
