Novel polypeptide derivatives of the formula I <IMAGE> in which R1, R2, R3 and Z have the meaning given in Patent Claim 1, B represents -Gly-, -D-Ala-, -Sar- or -Pro-, D represents -Phe-, -D-Phe-, -Tyr- or -D-Tyr- or, if R3 denotes an R4CO group, represents -Tyr(R4O)- or -D-Tyr(R4CO)-, E represents -D- or -L-methioninol sulphoxide or -D- or -L-methioninol sulphoxide, in which the OH group is replaced by an R4COO residue, and their acid addition salts are prepared by oxidising the S atom of the methioninol or esterified methioninol residue to a sulphoxide group. The polypeptide derivatives are also used for the preparation of metal complexes. These compounds can be used for the relief of pain conditions of all sorts of origin.
