<p>A process for improving the dispersibility of inorganic and organic pigments and fillers which comprises contacting said pigments and fillers with (a) aminoalkanols of the formulae <IMAGE> (I) or <IMAGE> (II), wherein R1 is alkyl having 6 to 22 carbon atoms, R2 is hydrogen or methyl, provided there is only one methyl group per (CH)x group, R3 and R4 are the same or different and are hydrogen, alkyl having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or hydroxyalkyl having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, x is an integer of from 2 to 6 and y is an integer of from 0 to 3, with the proviso that, if y is 0, R3 and R4 are not both hydrogen, or (b) salts, (c) alkoxylation products, and (d) quaternization products of said aminoalkanols, and recovering highly dispersible pigments and fillers.</p> |
