A method for regulating the addition of a passivating agent to a catalytic cracker and an improved cracking process utilizing said method is provided wherein the concentrations of molecular hydrogen and methane produced as cracked products by the catalytic cracker are monitored and the addition of the passivating agent to the catalytic cracker is adjusted in response thereto.
