A method of, and apparatus for, processing exposed photographic material 11 using a monobath solution 2 are such that solution is applied to a surface of the material and the so applied solution is agitated whilst in contact with the surfaces by brushes 4. As shown, the solution is applied to a plate 11 by an applicator roller 3 which dips in the solution as the plate moves through the apparatus. Excess solution is removed by squeezee rollers 7, 8. Three other embodiments Figs.2 to 4 (not shown) are described for processing flexible sheets. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, (not shown) the processed sheet (23) is fed round half of a large roller (31) while smaller rollers (32-35) squeeze out excess solution. In the embodiment of Fig.3 (not shown), a cylindrical brush (43) dips into a tank (41) containing solution (42) while the sheet is fed over the upper portion of the brush periphery, hence the brush acts as an applicator as well as an agitator. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown) the brush (63) also acts as agitator and applicator, and the sheet to be processed travels round three-quarters of the brush periphery, thereby also passing through the processing solution (62). The brushes may be of bristle or replaced by rollers of foamed plastics or cellulose materials. The tank of solution may be heated by a thermostatically controlled infrared heater, or it may be refrigerated. For complete, rapid drying of the developed material, a conveyor exposed to heat may be provided to transport material from the output end of the processing tank. |
