Suction pipes with a mouthpiece reciprocate vertically and travel synchronously with a transporter carrying the hanging carcases of fowl from which the lungs and other organs are to be extracted by vacuum. Each pipe is fixed to a carriage which can be displaced along vertical guides forming part of a frame moving with the transporter. Carriage works with a fixed curved track via a cam follower. During part of the vertical motion which is regulated by the cam track, the suction pipe is connected to a vacuum line. The frame section has means of spreading the legs of the fowl and brackets into which the trunk of the fowl is received. On the frame section, at the suction pipe and at the height of its mouthpiece, a resilient organ is contacted by the carcases, and in the absence of a fowl from the corresponding hook, it projects into the path of the pipe mouthpiece. Prevents the loss of vacuum and inefficient sucking away of the entrails due to the failure of the personnel to hang the birds on to the hooks with 100% efficiency.
|
