<p>A seal (30) for use in a floating roof storage tank (12) is disclosed. The seal (30) closes the annular space (16) defined between the floating roof (10) and the wall (14) of the storage tank (12). The seal (30) includes a single, unitary length of pliable material which is folded about the longitudinal axis thereof to superpose the side edges thereof. The end edges are closed and the superposed side edges are attached to the floating roof. A scuff band (74) is attached to the floating roof (10) to be interposed between the envelope (30) and the tank wall (14), and fluent material (47) can be placed into the envelope (30) when the seal is in situ. A method of forming the seal is disclosed, as are secondary sealing means (202, 212, 230).</p> |
