PURPOSE:To provide an ophthalmic solutin for regulating intraocular tension, containing a specific component at a low concentration, storable for a long period in a specific pH range controlled with a buffer solution, having intraocular tension-lowering activity, free from side effects such as local stimulation, and useful as a remedy for hypertonia bulbi, glaucoma, etc. CONSTITUTION:A solution contaning (A) 0.05-4.0w/v% of an ophthalmologically permissible water-soluble salt (e.g. hydrochloric acid salt) of 2-acetyl-7-(2-hydroxy-3-isopropylaminopropoxy)benzofuran (befnorol), (B) 0.001-0.1w/v% of benzalkonium chloride or benzethonium chloride, and (C) 0.02-2w/v% of at least one compound selected from polyvinyl alcohol, methyl cellulose, etc., is adjusted at pH5.0-8.0 with a buffer solution to obtain the titled ophthalmic solution. The especially preferable buffer solution is the combination of potassium dihydrogen phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate. EFFECT:The pharmacological activity of befnorol can be effectively exhibited. |
