PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of lead to be used for the manufacture of a battery and enhance the liquid tightness of the battery, by forming straps and a cell-connecting part which is located at the cut part of a separator at the same time on a straight line, and followed by injection molding of a sealing body which blocks the cut part and covers projecting parts which are provided on the cell-connecting part. CONSTITUTION:A negative-plate lag 2a and a positive-plate lag 4a are unified together with a lead weld to form each strap 11. At the same time, a cell-connecting part 12 is formed between the straps 11 in such a manner that the part 12 and the straps 11 approximately form a straight line. Projecting parts 14, 14' and concave parts 13, 13' are provided on the upper and lower sides of the cell-connecting part 12. The thus-constituted assembled element with the cell-connecting part 12 is placed in a container, so that the cell-connecting part 12 is situated at a cut part which is formed in a separator 23. After that, the connecting part is equipped with a metal mold like a fixed mold 38, and a similar material to that of the container is injected from an injection nozzle 34 with the help of an injection-molding machine to mold a sealing body 53. Here, the sealing body 53 should cover the projecting parts 14, 14' of the connecting part 12 and should block the cut part. |
