1,243,902. Rasping tyres. KENTREDDER Ltd. 12 Feb., 1970 [20 Feb., 1969], No. 9270/69. Heading B4B. A machine for rasping tyres prior to retreading comprises a pair of discs 1, 2 having cutting teeth 3 and arranged to be rotated in the same direction by a drive motor M so that the cutting action of the teeth in contact with the tyre will be in opposite directions to one another in order to eliminate or reduce the side thrust on the tyre. In the construction shown in Fig. 4, a cutting disc is mounted on the shaft of the motor M which shaft drives via a pulley- and-belt drive 22, a second cutting disc 19, the motor being mounted on a platform 17 which can be raised and lowered by means of a rotatable screw 14. The axes of the discs may be inclined to the plane of the tyre (Fig. 2, not shown) in order to impart a rotational thrust to the tyre. The machine may also be used for rasping conveyers.
|
