PURPOSE:To save fuel and to reduce the amount of CO contained in the exhaust gas, by providing a resilient reed valve and an air inlet passage opened in the body of the gasket from an air inlet port communicated to the inside and the outside of a cylinder. CONSTITUTION:The gasket 4 is provided between the ignition plug 1 and a cylinder head 12. A space 9 formed between the gasket 4 and the ignition plug 1 serves as a kind of surging room. When a vacuum is developed inside an engine, the reed valve 8 is forced upward by the pressure difference on the opposite sides thereof and external air is introduced from an air inlet port 5 with addition of the function of surging room 9. On the other hand, when pressure inside the engine is higher than the atmospheric pressure, air inlet port 5 is closed by the reed valve 8. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to save about 15-27% of fuel and to reduce the amount of CO contained in the exhaust gas. |
