PURPOSE:To conduct an economical and excellent printing on the surface of the object body to be printed, by a method wherein an extensible film printed with a transfer pattern is closely contacted with the object body while being extended, so as to transfer the pattern onto the object body. CONSTITUTION:The transfer pattern 2 is printed on the extensible film having gas barrier properties, e.g. a polyvinyl film, by using a volatile printing ink to produce a transfer film 3. After closely contacting the transfer film 3 with the surface of the object body 4 while extending the film 3, the object body 4 and the transfer film 3 are heated by heaters 5, whereby the intermolecular spaces of the object body 4 are enlarged and the volatile ink constituting the transfer pattern 2 is evaporated and caused to penetrate into the intermolecular spaces of the object body 4. Then, the object body 4 is cooled and the extensible film 1 constituting the transfer film 3 is removed to expose the surface of the object body 4 onto which the transfer pattern has been transferred. |
