PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of pickling patterns, by a method wherein a pickling liquid is sprayed on a metal strip at a position rising from a pickling bath in the pickling of a metal strip, and washing is carried out at a place apart from this spraying zone. CONSTITUTION:Pickling patterns generated by the pickling for removing oxide scale of a metal strip, especially, a steel strip are prevented by a method as described hereinafter. For example, when a steel strip is passed through a pickling tank 4 by an immersing roll 4 to carry out the pickling thereof, at a rising part between an outlet side roll 4 and a deflecting roll 6, a pickling liquid is sprayed by spray apparatuses 11, 11' to prevent the generation of pickling patterns and, subsequently, washing is carried out immediately by spray apparatuses 12, 12'. The spray apparatuses 11, 11' introduce the pickling liquid through a conduit 15, a pump 8 and conduits 16, 16' and, after spraying, the pickling liquid is returned to the pickling tank 2. Moreover, the temp. of the bath is lowered by a heat exchanger 9 or maintained at a constant temp. |
