PURPOSE:To eliminate the influence of airflows on ink droplets and stabilize the movement of the ink droplets by a method wherein a gas flow is generated so as to entirely envelop the periphery of the flow of the ink droplets jetted from a nozzle toward a recording medium being moved. CONSTITUTION:The ink droplets 2 jetted from an ink jet nozzle 1 are electrically charged by a charging electrode 3, deflected by deflecting electrodes 4 and deposited onto the recording paper on a rotary drum 8, producing a print on the paper. On the other hand, a gas 7 is jetted from a gas jet nozzle 5 toward the drum 8 so as to entirely envelop the periphery of the flow of the ink droplets 2, thereby establishing an air curtain between the gas jet nozzle 5 and the drum 8. The air curtain prevents the airflows generated by the rotation of the drum 8 or by other causes from entering into the passage for the ink droplets, and hence prevents the airflows from exerting an influence on the ink droplets. |
