PURPOSE:To lower the energy required for printing and unnecessitate the solenoid used for feeding the paper, thereby to reduce size, the noise and the power consumption of the device and to enhance the printing speed of the printer by using an ink roller and a type belt provided with projections. CONSTITUTION:The tip ends of the tapered projections a11-a25 of the type belt 15 made of an elastic material such as rubber are applied beforehand with ink by the ink roller 20. When the cylindrical projections b1-b10 are struck, through the back surface of the type belt 15, by the head portion 18a of a hammer lever engaged with the solenoid 24, the tapered projections a11-a25 collide against the platen 21 through the printing paper 23 therebetween, so that the ink on the surfaces of the projections a11-a25 is transferred onto the paper 23. The use of the ink roller 20 reduces the energy required for printing, the size of the solenoid for printing 24 and the power consumption. In addition, the solenoid for feeding the paper is unnecessitated, the paper feeding mechanism is kept stopped during printing operations and the type wheel does not rotate during the paper feed operations, allowing a small- sized low-cost pulse motor to be used. |
